License plates measure 6" x 12"
Normal parking signs measure 9" x 12"
Round signs are 12" round
Square signs are 12" square
(there is a usps priority box that measures approximately 12" x 14" and can accomodate these four).
Street signs measure 5" x 24"
Arrow signs measure 6"x 20"
(there is a USPS triangular blueprint box that measures 6" x 25" and can accomodate both of these. The only thing is that you need to put the sign in on the inside "seam" of the box and then stuff newspaper on the other side so it doesnt shift around and alleviates any bending that can otherwise occur).
Large parking are 12" x 18"
This last one is the only sign that we could never accomodate with free boxes. In this case you can order boxes from somewhere we love ULINE.com - (excellent company and it is who we use today for all of our retail/dropship/wholesale shipping materials)
...or you can purchase "catalog" envelopes. They do not have to be padded envelopes which add drastically to the cost. And... whether they are padded envelopes or not, you also have to cutup cardboard to make a backing for each sign and bubblewrap around the front of the sign and ship that way. This way will work too and prevent bending.
Tip: We found it much less expensive to buy our own bubblewrap other than purchase padded envelopes.
We hope this information has helped to answer some of your shipping questions!
